He received so many criticisms for it but he persevered and he later became the first African-American president in America. People may show contempt over certain things but if you prove them wrong, they would change their perspective. That is a part of how politics work. Also, now, more and more women are being allowed as well into politics. Society is more accepting now and believes inequality between men and women. Society no longer judges based on gender, they judge based on their capabilities, leadership skills, achievements, and more. One of the current women prime ministers who are respected by many across the world is New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. She is an example of how a woman can indeed lead a country just as well as men or even better.
That is the bright side to politics but there is the dark side of politics as well. For instance, there are countries in the world where politics are still very traditional and rigid. Take North Korea as an example. It is a country that is still under a dictatorship where they treat their citizens mercilessly and the leader’s words are absolute. It is believed that many of the population in North Korea are poor and in a state of famine. In a country led by a dictatorship, there is no election and the people can’t have a say or vote in electing their leader. They merely have to accept whatever the decision is, even if it brings them more misfortune than fortune. Although there have been wishes to help North Korea, outsiders, unfortunately, have very little access to the country. This is merely an example, there wouldn’t be enough space in here to list down all of it but it is important to know that politics can be really wicked and dirty if it’s led by immoral people. Some riots, protests, or segregations happen because of politics. This is how influential politics can be towards society in a country. People are very invested in politics because it is something so significant in everyone’s lives. How your political party leads the country would affect you in many ways.
